Gary Rowe has been in the real estate business since moving to Hilton Head Island in 1978. His first development as an active partner was in 1979 when he and his partner purchased 50 acres of land on Hilton Head and divided it into an 11 lot subdivision called Tidepoint. Lot sales exceeded $1 million and the project was profitable. In 1984 he moved from Hilton Head to Lexington, Kentucky as vice president of the Stearns Company, a $150 million commercial real estate investment/development company with offices in Menlo Park, California; Phoenix, Arizona, and headquarters in Lexington. He also received his CCIM designation that same year. In 1988, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia as vice president of Southmark Equities, the real estate marketing arm of a $17 billion public real estate company called Southmark. In 1992 he moved back to Hilton Head to become partners with the owners of the remaining developer inventory in Wexford Plantation. In 1994, he accepted an offer to become a partner in Colleton River Realty at Colleton River Plantation in Bluffton and in 1996 became co-managing partner of Winding River Realty which took over management and marketing for a Colleton investor of 5,000 acres in St George, Utah. Between 1998 and 2006, he served as co-managing partner in the development of three high end golf course communities in Bluffton known as Belfair (www.belfair1811.com), Berkeley Hall (www.berkeleyhallclub.com), and a joint venture with Toll Brothers, Inc. called Hampton Hall (hamptonhallsc.com). Lots sales in the three communities exceeded $300 million and each was profitable. Also in 2000, he and his partners purchased 3,800 acres of land in the heart of Bluffton called Buckwalter where Hampton Hall, Hampton Lake, Buckwalter Place, and Berkeley Place are currently located. Rowe Investments still owns three commercial parcels and an office building in Buckwalter. Gary graduated from Western Kentucky University in 1975 with a BS in Business Administration and Economics. Most recently he has been involved as a partner with his son in Carson Realty, a local real estate brokerage company with 5 offices and 2011 revenues in excess of $1.5 million; a board member of a community bank; and in planning, management and development of parcels of land owned by Rowe Investments. Gary is 58 years old and resides in Bluffton, SC with his wife of 39 years.
