Today is the first day of school for students in Beaufort County. This day is often graced with cheers, excitement, nervousness, and sadness for the end of summer.
Being new to the area, parents and kids may be nervous about starting a new school in a new town, and most likely will have many questions about the school that will soon become part of their regular routine.
Beaufort County schools ranked #25, out of 83, in the state of South Carolina according to School Digger, where the ranking is based upon 2016-2017 test scores. With 20 elementary schools, 6 middle schools, 6 high schools, 1 alternate school choice, many private schools, and the opportunity to choose a preferred school, parents have the opportunity to make sure their child/ren have the best education.
The Beaufort County Schools website is great source of information for all the public schools within the country, athletics offered, and calendars. The website makes it easy for parents, and new students, when looking for information, or even reporting a concern that one may have.
It also never hurts to ask your Real Estate agent about the zoning of schools. If you know that you’d like to be in a particular school zone, this is where you agent is used as resource! Letting your Realtor know this up front allows for him/her to look for homes in a particular school zone. It also allows you to research and visit the communities in that school zone during the day, in the mornings, afternoon, and night. You can become familiar with the bus stops, what children do in the neighborhood after school, and give an estimated amount of time of when the bus may drop your son or daughter off the bus after school.
To all of the kids who arrived at school today, and to the parents that put them on the bus or drop them off, we at Carson Realty hope you have a wonderful school year! To those who are thinking of relocating to the area, we welcome any questions you may have!
